Deadly car bombs explode at Baghdad Green Zone entrance, officials say

Two suicide car bombs exploded Monday morning near a security checkpoint at an entrance to Baghdad's Green Zone, killing three people and injuring at least 20, officials with Iraq's Interior Ministry told CNN.
The blast happened at the western entry of the heavily fortified area, according to a statement released by Iraq's parliament. The Green Zone, officially called the International Zone, is in the heart of the Iraq's capital and houses Iraq's government offices and foreign embassies.

Iraqi security forces and civilians were killed in the attack, which targeted a convoy carrying the adviser of Iraq's speaker of parliament, Amjad al-Douri, the statement said. One of his guards died in the attack, three others were critically wounded.

Police said other attacks across Baghdad on Monday killed one person and injured at least a dozen more, including Iraqi soldiers and police officers.  http://edition.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/meast/04/18/iraq.green.zone.violence/index.html?section=cnn_latest
