___April 26th - May 1st ...__
On Tuesday, April 26th, until Sunday, May 1st, Iraq's parliament will hopefully pass important economic/political laws that will move the country forward in a very positive way.
The great news posted today stating that Iraq has agreed to use IMF funds to pay off all debt files is one of the most important pieces of information so far.
Remember for Iraq to become a member of the WTO, they need to pay off all debts. And .. for Iraq to be recognized internationally, they need to have a tradeable currency.
Iraq and WTO and Dinar " The obstacle that prevents access to Iraq's WTO membership is a file of Iraq's debt, and hopefully will be resolved soon ...
Iraq's Accession: WTO Requires Activation of the Economic laws, such as the Customs Tariff law, the Banking Act, Law of Oil and Gas, etc. and..
*** Iraq and WTO ~ Iraq confirms the quest to join the World Trade Organization and the protection of funds ...
Also, as mentioned, Shabibi's trip to Washington last week included more than the conference with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (U.S. and Iraq Business Initiative). His visit also included a meeting with the IMF. It would appear that the IMF and Iraq may have signed an agreement regarding the value of Iraq's currency. It would seem logical that a rate was set in order to pay off the Paris Club debts. Not sure if that was the case (this is iraq:).
Also, a report is expected to be issued to the UN Security Council by May 1st regarding the protection of Iraq's funds abroad.*** Before May ~ Iraq, UN, IMF: UN report to be submitted ~ Iraq will use IMF funds to close the file of debt ~ June 30th ends protection of funds
Tomorrow, Tuesday, Parliament will discuss the Bill about U.S. troop withdrawal. This is a major step and if you remember it was stipulated that Iraq must be able to handle their own security. The SOFA agreement The Promised Withdrawal from Iraq ~ Full Commitment to SOFA and the initial agreement SOFA
Meetings Coming up include:
*** Tuesday, April 26th Iraq and U.S. ~ Parliament discusses Bill ~ US troops withdraw from the country ...
April 26th ~ House of Representatives raises its 56 to next Tuesday, April 26th ...
Tuesday, April 26th ~ Iraq's PM Maliki Begins Visit to South Korea ~ Iraqi parliament seeks to improve economic ties with South Korea ...
Wednesday, April 27th ~ Parliament held the first regular meeting of the independent bodies next Wednesday
*** Before May ~ Iraq, UN, IMF: UN report to be submitted ~ Iraq will use IMF funds to close the file of debt ~ June 30th ends protection of funds
