Sadrists criticize settlement draft between Baghdad and Washington

Baghdad, April 18 (AKnews) - The Sadrist movement led by Muqtada al-Sadr Monday criticized a Law draft Convention over the settlement of claims between the Iraqi Government and the United States Government, saying that it was "hasty" and "incorrect."

Moqtada al-Sadr,Muqtada al-SadrThe criticism comes at a time the Iraqi parliament presented a convention draft over settlement of claims between the Iraqi Governments and the United States for the second reading after it was voted to accept it principally on the project in its session on Sunday.

Maha al-Douri of Ahrar bloc of the Sadrist movement said that "the parliament accelerate in the presentation of the claims settlement law between the Iraqi Government and the United States today during its second reading," noting that "the parliament presented the law yesterday for the first reading."

Al-Douri spoke at a press conference in the parliament and was attended by AKnews correspondent in Baghdad.

"One day only passed from the first reading, which is contrary to the legislation of laws process."

"Legislating this Convention was within deals among the blocs and the United States to achieve its own interests."

"U.S. troop's withdrawal from Iraq Convention, which was signed between the Iraqi and U.S. governments in 2008, did not make Iraq out of Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter."

The MP called the parliament to "expedite issuing the Internal Security Forces law, which was presented for the first reading a month ago and has not been submitted yet for the second reading, especially in the presence of hundreds of thousands of these forces members waiting impatiently to get their rights."

The head of the virtue bloc in the parliament, Ammar Tohma criticized the terms of the settlement of claims between Iraq and Washington.

" settlement Convention claims between Iraq and the United States does not end the American citizens claims in the un-American courts or prevent its establishment on Iraq," noting that the agreement referred only to " end such claims in U.S. courts, which constitutes an outlet for them to file law suits in courts outside America. "

"The Convention referred to prevent lawsuits or claims in the future of the federal courts or the United States courts, but should be circulated even on the claims outside the American courts."
Tohma described the Convention by "lack of clarity in the standard and the basis adopted in the settlement report that amount of $ 400 million," calling to "re-consider the duration of paying the settlement and its amount."
