Met with Dr. Ibrahim Jaafari, head of the National Alliance and the President of the National Reform Movement with Mr. Ed Melkert, the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq and his delegation Tuesday, 11/01/2011.
Discussed during the meeting in the most important issues on the political landscape of Iraq and the United Nations support for the Iraqi government upgrading to reduce the time by Iraq to the ranks of developed countries.
And held a news conference after the meeting, Dr. Ibrahim al-Jaafari with Mr. Ad Melkert … It read:
Mr. Ad Melkert: Of course at first I was very happy to meet with Dr. Jaafari, I also wanted to congratulate him on the very important role he played in creating a spirit of cooperation and constructive engagement, which was the foundation of the agreements reached .. We discussed about the fundamental challenges facing Iraq in the next stage and of course we were also interested in the opinion of Dr. Jaafari, including the role of the supportive and neutral role that the United Nations could offer to the next government and to the new Parliament.
Dr. Ibrahim al-Jaafari: After welcoming Mr. United Nations representative to visit progressed thanks to the position of the United Nations in the middle of last month to remove Iraq from Chapter VII, and this I consider a wise and correct Vokbert role of the United Nations for this position also praised the role of the United Nations representative here in Iraq to pursue the political process, especially since the political process in Iraq interferes in internal factor and external factor ..
