Kirkuk, Jan.13 (AKnews)- A police chief in Kirkuk province, 255 km north of Baghdad, said Wednesday two suspects and seven wanted were arrested in some villages around Hawija, southwest of Kirkuk city. The arresting force also found some arms and narcotics in the area.
Sarhad Qadir, Kirkuk districts’ police chief said an Iraqi and police joint force performed the six-hour arrest operation. Four Kalashnikovs and four bikes to be used for explosions as well as an amount of narcotics were also sized during the raid and search.
Almost daily a number of wanted and suspects are taken into custody across the war-torn Iraq since the U.S. led invasion in 2003. However, the arrests seem incapable of preventing violence.
