Arab League summit to be held in Baghdad on time

Cairo, April 6 (AKnews) - The director of the Secretary-General Office of the Arab League said on Wednesday that the upcoming twenty-third session of the Arab summit will be held in Baghdad as scheduled on 11 of next May and there was no talks about a delay.
Hesham YoussefHesham Youssef said in a press statement in the presence of AKnews reporter that we have not received any requests yet over postponing Baghdad summit from any Arab country, and if we receive any proposal in this regard, we will deal with it then , therefore we work on the basis that the Arab summit will be held on its time, which was agreed upon and proposed by Iraq and all the Arab countries  were informed which is  11 of next May.
 
Many Iraqi MPs form AL-Iraqiya List, has asked for postponement of the Arab summit because the situation in Iraq and other Arab countries is not favorable.
 
The Ambassador , Hesham Youssef pointed that "The subject of ​​appointing a new secretary general of the Arab League to succeed Mr. Amr Moussa, who ends his term in office as Secretary General of the League in 15 of next May, will be one of the items listed on the agenda of the upcoming Arab Summit in Baghdad."
 
Regarding the presence of candidates from other Arab countries to fill this post, he said "we have not received any formal nominations yet from other countries with the exception of Qatar."
 
Commenting on the presence of fears from the departure of general secretary from the League, Yusuf said that "the Arab League Charter will not be exposed to the nationality of the candidate, historically Egypt maintained this post except for the period that the League was transferred to Tunisia, Egypt has provided notable personalities to fill the post, Over the past decades and from place Egypt was interested in maintaining this post but must wait to see how things will evolve, and consultation is continuing in this regard. "
