Cabinet to be sacked if it fails to meet its 100-day deadline obligations, Nujaifi

Iraq Parliament Speaker said on Monday that if Iraq government failed to meet its engagements after the 100 days time-line it gave there will be a request to hold new elections. Nujaifi called the government either to work on bringing its work to success or to allow other people who are capable of running and managing the country.
“The government is now making an exam. It engaged to a 100 day time-line to enhance services in the country the half of which already ended”, said Ussama Al Nujaifi during a press Conference attended by Alsumarianews in the parliament headquarter. “Iraq Parliament follows the government performance and its program according to which it gained the motion of confidence,” he added.
If the government thrives to overcome the hard problems the country is facing, we will all cooperate and we will be partners who work on overcoming obstacles”, Nujaifi uttered. “However, if the Cabinet fails to provide people with their rights and to deal with the services, unemployed, security and foreign relations files… therefore this partnership shall not last for a long time and there will be demands to hold new elections”, he added.
Iraq Premier Nouri Al Maliki had granted the Ministries and the Provinces administrations a 100 day time-line to assess their work and to balance their successes and their failure. Maliki stressed that big changes will take place4 according to the assessment results. To that, Maliki undertook to open an investigation regarding the violations that took place during the demonstrations and to answer the demonstrators’ demands as soon as possible.
“This decision is not taken yet Nujaifi said, but we are still cooperating with the government and the different political parties in order to solve the crisis,” Iraq Speaker said. “However, people’s rights are sacred and the people’s interests are the most important whereas governments come and go”, he stressed. “We shall be very clear, either we are capable of succeeding or else new elections shall be held and other people capable of running the country should arrive to power”, Iraq Speaker uttered.
“The 100 day time-line is a governmental engagement and after the end of the same the government shall be held accountable regarding its accomplishments especially as to the demonstrators demands,” he continued. “A specialized parliamentary Committee gathered the demands of all the demonstrators and sent them to the Central Government and the regional governments,” he added.
“After the end of this time-line the parliament will host the different parties in order to hear clarifications about the promised change and afterwards things will be clearer”, he stressed.
