Iraq signs agreements worth U.S. $ 4 billion to support the supply of electricity

Iraq said on Thursday it had signed agreements worth nearly four billion dollars to build small power stations, emergency across the country to help double the supply of electricity for up to 16 hours a day by the summer of next year.

Laith Hamid said the Director General of Department of investment and contracts in Iraq, the ministry signed an agreement with a South Korean company worth $ 3.2 billion to build 25 stations with a total capacity of 2500 MW in different parts of the country.

He added that the ministry also signed a contract worth $ 762 million company with Elite Jordan to build power plants with total capacity of 600 MW.

He said the ministry would also sign two additional in the next few days to build power stations with total capacity of 1900 MW.

The Plan of the Ministry of Electricity emergency build 50 small power station produces each with 100 MW across the country as a temporary solution, pending the operation of long-term electricity projects.
