Baghdad, Jan. 9 (AKnews) - The Oil Ministry in Baghdad selected on Sunday, next February as a date for signing the contract of developing Ukaz gas field western Iraq with Kogas company from South Korea and Kazmunai company for exploration and production.
The general director of contracts, Abdul Mahdi al-Amidi told AKnews that the Oil Ministry completed its preparations to sign a contract to develop Ukaz gas field next February after ending the misunderstandings between the Ministry and Anbar Council."Contracts and licenses department of the Oil Ministry has settled a number of points with the Korean Kogaz company and Munai gas ,the Kazakhstan company , which will develop the field.
It is noteworthy that the provincial council in Anbar announced in the past refusing to export Ukaz field gas west of the province as a raw material, and required from the Council to use invested gas in manufacturing industries within the province to take advantage of it.
Kogas and Kazmunaigan companies for exploration and production is the second-largest oil company in Kazakhstan that has won a contract to develop Ukaz gas field in Anbar west of Iraq within the third licensing round launched by the ministry last year, while a group led by (Kuwait Energy) won Ciba gas field contract in Basra, southern Iraq, Turkish (TPAO) , (Kuwait energy) and (Kogas)companies won the third gas field in Mansourieh area, which is located near the Iranian border in Diyala province.
45 worldwide companies have competed to win developing three fields in the third licensing round, after two rounds confined on the first and second licensing rounds to develop 10 discovered but untapped oil fields.
According to the numbers of the Iraqi Ministry, Oil Iraq's production of crude oil will rise in the next six years to reach about 12 million barrels per day from 2.4 million barrel currently.
