Iraq Civil Aviation Reconstruction Reverse Trade Mission

Dates: February 14-26, 2010
Locations: Washington, DC; New Orleans, LA; and Oklahoma City, OK
The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) will fund an Reverse Trade Mission (RTM) to the United States for twelve (12) Iraqi Civil Aviation officials for twelve (12) days in February, 2010. The delegation will be headed by the Minister of Transportation and the Director General of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority. Three U.S. Government representatives in Baghdad will accompany the group from Iraq. The delegation will visit Washington, D.C.; New Orleans, LA; and Oklahoma City, OK.
This Reverse Trade Mission has been postponed on a number of previous occasions due to reasons beyond the control of USTDA. This "revised" visit will include the attendance of the Minister of Transportation in order to widen the scope of Iraqi understanding for U.S. transportation-related technologies and services beyond the civil aviation sector and to place it in more of a "multi-modal" setting.
The objective of this Reverse Trade Mission is to provide the Iraqi delegation with an opportunity to view and discuss the U.S. Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) civil aviation regulatory model and to interact with U.S. airport authorities and U.S. carriers and other civil aviation-related entities, as well as for the Minister to see other forms of intermodal transportation and facilities in the U.S. – ports, rail links, waterway navigation systems for vessel traffic and safety, highways, etc.
In conjuction with this Reverse Trade Mission, The National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the U.S. Trade and Development Agency and the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq, is pleased to invite you to a business reception and networking opportunity on February 16, 2010. To RSVP, please view the invitation for more information.
A Business Briefing will be conducted on February 17, 2010 at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in Washington D.C. from 8:30am thru 4:00pm. The fee for participation is $50.00.
