BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq – Iraq’s Parliament Speaker, Usama al-Nujeify, has described the demonstrations, taking place in the country, as evidence for the existence of failure by the government to satisfy the people’s demands and the existence of a “clear evidence” for its failure to overcome continuous mistakes.”
“Studying the demands, raised by the people during previous demonstrations, we have found a clear failure in all State bodies, caused by previous and current mistakes,” Speaker Usama told a conference by the authorities of Iraq’s Regions and Provinces that are not linked to a certain region, held at the headquarters of the Parliament on Wednesday.
Nujeify said that the main government failure existed in the housing crisis and the shortage of services, bad administration, the spread of financial and administrative corruption in all State institutions, along with tightening on the freedoms and the current divisions in the social unit, along with the bad treatment of detainees, who were not sentenced yet.
“The past period had uncovered the presence of a structural failure in the relationship between the Central Government and local administrations in the country’ Regions and Provinces,” he said.
In conclusion, the Parliament’s Speaker said: “We look forward for securing the rights of different Iraqi provinces to contribute in the administration of the Federal Institutions in different financial, administrative and other rights, including financial aids by international agencies.”
