Kuwait, Iraq agree on continuing coordination to enhance region security

Wrapping up its first meeting, the joint Kuwaiti-Iraqi ministerial committee said Kuwaiti and Iraqi officials will continue coordination and consultation over the regional and international developments and work to enhance security and stability in the region.
“In reflection to the brotherly relations between the two states and their peoples and their common interests and in harmony with the approach established by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Iraqi President Jalal Talabani to both countries will consolidate consultation and coordination and exchange visits at the highest levels,” the committee said in its final communiqu.
The communiqu noted that the committee meetings were held in cordial atmosphere. It also highlighted talks between the HH Amir and His Highness the Prime Minister visiting Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari and his delegation who participated in the committee meetings.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi delegation emphasized their country’s compliance with all UN resolution related to the relations with Kuwait, particularly resolution No. 833 on the borders demarcation.
The Iraqi delegation also lauded Kuwait’s support and finance of educational, health and development projects in Iraq.
