Iraqi official .. Arab consensus to hold the Arab summit in Baghdad, 11 May

Cairo – 13-3 (KUNA) – Iraq’s delegate to the League of Arab States, Dr. Qais Al-Azzawi today that Arab foreign ministers, “chimed in” on the Iraqi proposal to set a date the next Arab summit in Baghdad on May 11 the next day to be preceded by a preparatory meeting at the level of Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The Al-Azzawi, this topic has been raised during the emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers yesterday at the request of the Iraqi delegation, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, however, Abawi noting that the chairman of the meeting, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, Sultanate of Oman, Yusuf bin Alawi put this matter to the Council for the adoption of the proposed date.
He said he was “consensus” about the proposed Iraqi in the light of consultations between the Iraqi delegation and the Secretariat of the Arab League in addition to the consultations of the Arab delegations participating in the meeting.
He said al-Azzawi at the same time for Iraq to complete all preparations to host the Arab summit of the 23 in Baghdad, which was scheduled for March 29 this, noting that Iraq has hosted more than a delegation of senior officials of the Arab League for the technical preparations and logistics for the summit as well as with the draft agenda.
He explained that the agenda was discussed and prepared in its initial meeting of the Board of the Arab League in the second of March.
And stressed the readiness of all agencies concerned to provide the Iraqi security necessary for the participating delegations, noting that the government has spent more than $ 300 million on this equipment and the rehabilitation of the six largest hotels in Baghdad.
Azzawi said that the Iraqi government formed a special committee composed of the Office of the Adjutant General of the armed forces and ministries of defense, interior and national security and the secretariat of Baghdad in order to supervise all the security preparations and service that precedes the date for convening the Arab summit.
