PM Maliki to define the security cabinet posts next week, MP says
BAGHDAD, Iraq’s Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, is expected to settle the issue of assigning the security cabinet posts next week, an Iraqi National Coalition Legislature said on Monday.
“Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki shall settle the issue of assigning the ministers for the security cabinet posts next week,” Ali al-Shilah told Aswat al-Iraq news agency, adding that “next week shall witness positive decisions in this respect.”
He said he can’t announce the names of the proposed personalities to take those posts, “because recent changes have made the Prime Minister and the group, chosen to discuss the said issue, to study the new viewpoints towards the issue.”

“The security cabinet posts, according to the Prime Minister’s viewpoint, need serious study, and we don’t want to involve the State with incompetent ministers, holding the security posts, especially in the aftermath of the recent demonstrations,” Shilah said.

Noteworthy is that the Iraqi Parliament on 21/12/2010, had granted trust to the new Iraqi cabinet, comprising 42 ministries, including 12 state ministries, whilst Maliki kept the administrations of the Interior, Defense and National Security, temporarily under him on “acting” basis.

The Iraqi capital of Baghdad had witnessed last Friday, Feb.
25, 2011, broad mass demonstrations in its al-Tahrir (Liberation) Square, where 12 policemen and 13 demonstrators were injured, according to the Baghdad Operations Command.

A number of other Iraqi provinces had witnessed similar demonstrations, during which clashes took place between the demonstrators and the security forces, causing some injuries among both sides.
