Iraqiya wants Allawi in Iraq’s executive branch

Sunday, March 6th 2011 8:10 PM
Baghdad, March 6 (AKnews) – A member of AL- Iraqiya List led by former Prime Minister ,Ayad Allawi said on Sunday, that the leaders of the list will not be satisfied to make Ayad Allawi, away from the executive role in the current government, expressing its belief that AL-Iraqiya will not cost someone else as a substitute for Allawi, to preside the strategic policies Council.
Nahida Daini told AKnews that AL-Iraqiya leaders will hold a meeting soon to discuss the national partnership.

“it is unfair that Allawi would be outside the executive branch, as he owns 91 seats in the Iraqi parliament”.
Ayad Allawi decided last week to give up the post of strategic policies Board Chairman because of the failure to implement what was agreed upon at the conference held in Erbil.

AL-Iraqiya threatened to take several options if what has been agreed upon didn’t take place before the formation of the government, including making Ayad Allawi the president of the National Council for the strategic policies and not its secretary-general.
The leaders of Iraqi political blocs agreed last November on Kurdistan President, Masoud Barzani initiative, which focused on the renewal of the mandate of Prime Minister, Nuri al-Maliki and the development of the post of chairman of the Supreme National Strategic Policies to be headed by Ayad Allawi, in addition to other points.

Barzani Initiative led to form a government of national partnership, but the strategic policies Council is not formed yet, because of disagreements about the powers that will be granted to him.
Differences between state of law and Al- Iraqiya List intensified on the background of the recent indictment of the National coalition for fudging the political conventions by refusing to vote on the Law of the National Council of strategic policies within the parliament.
